U S. Foreign Policy Outlook After the 2024 Election

CMC continually achieves a high free-speech ranking and promotes effective conversations through organizations like the Athenaeum, the Open Academy and the Dreier Roundtable. The CMC community must re-commit itself to constructive dialogue.

A bit about me, I’m a FGLI student from Hawaii PPE + GSS. I am beyond excited to get to know my residents as well and the new faces joining the CMC community! My name is Prateek and I am so excited to be one of your Crown Hall RAs! My favorite food is any preparation of a potato, and I am OBSESSED with Jelly Cats and Squishmallows.

Looking ahead, the Office of Consortial Academic Collaboration is also planning to add a data science major at the other Claremont Colleges, according to Uvin. In terms of the differences between the data science major and sequence, Uvin believes that “the major is heavy on math, statistics, and probability. Due to increasing student demand and the use of data analysis in different fields, CMC plans to implement a new data science major by the fall of 2020 or 2021. If you have any questions about my platform or just want to talk, feel free to reach out to me at or through my Instagram (@michael.gadinis)! We have to innovate, improvise, and improve upon the structures and systems already in place to create a CMC community that thrives digitally and feels like home to students from all walks of life.

During high school, I was a basketball captain, principal string bassist in the orchestra, interned for my Congressman, and founded my school’s first Mental Health Awareness Club. Having graduated high school in China, I’m acutely aware of the importance of bridging cultural and social gaps, and existing alongside each other as full humans. CMC is a place where all of us should feel fully, genuinely and authentically at home. Vote for a president who will continue to make CMC the best place to be! We have already established ourselves as the most cohesive class that CMC has seen to date, and it is my desire as President to keep it that way. I have loved getting to know all of you through our Zooms and I want to keep that attitude and excitement going.

You can watch a video of his speech above or read a transcript of it below. The class of 2025 elected Henry Long to deliver remarks on their behalf at Claremont McKenna College’s 77th Commencement Ceremony on May 17th, 2025. On campus, I am part of the Claremont Consulting Group and Claremont Accounting Association. Hey everyone, my name is Rakhshaan Adamjee, and I am super excited to be one of the RAs for student apartments! I am looking forward to an amazing year on campus!

Outside of these random facts, why should you vote for me to be your first-year Class President? I haven’t declared a major yet but I am thinking of PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics), PPA (Philosophy and Public Affairs), International Relations or some combination of those subjects. As of now, I spend my day (when I’m not doing work) cooking, making bracelets, listening to Philosophize This, and scrolling through TikTok (probably my favorite thing to do). The impacts of a pandemic turned our lives upside down and tragic events called for us to re-examine America as we know it.

U.S. Foreign Policy Outlook After the 2024 Election

Socrates said something like this—so did St. Paul—and they both got killed. Now, the right response to the grandeur of the world is wonder, awe, and—dare I say it—humility. Some will argue that the best response to the vastness of the unknown is to be larger than life, to be greedy, to grab what you can. The universe is bigger and stranger than you could possibly imagine. If any of you have attended convocation over the past four years, you’ve heard it many times before.

I’m a PPE & Legal Studies major. I’m so excited to plan fun events together to help our community thrive. My door is always open, and I’m always available to talk about anything. I love dancing bachata, listening to cmc markets review the handpan, solving crosswords, playing spikeball, and taking polar swims. I’m French-American and majoring in Organizational Studies.

Class of 2024: First-Year Class President Candidate Statements

  • I love hosting and meeting new people so feel free to stop by!
  • In a remote setting, it can be challenging to get to know your peers.
  • My initiatives are meant to build and advocate for a more environmentally and socially sustainable campus community as well as to be the person you can rely on to act as your voice.
  • We’re not just stuck wallowing in ignorance.

I’m Liann Bielicki, and I’m running to be your class president. Feel free to email me at or dm me at @theosiasat on Instagram. I will advocate for all underserved and disadvantaged students. And now, I’m running to be your first-year class president. I’m not going to promise a dramatic transformation of our class experience. I justified my fear with the fact that I’m not American, and subsequently that the Class of 2024 wouldn’t buy into the leadership of a sub-saharan African student.

Bill Kristol Says He Would Vote For Zohran Mamdani for New York City Mayor

On campus, I’m involved in APAM and the president of the Alexander Hamilton Society; I’ve worked for the Keck Center as well. I care a lot that you feel included in the CMC community and hope that Valach feels like home to you. I have a tea-bar cart in my room and would love to share a cup of tea with you if you want to talk about anything. But most of all, I love being around people and creating fun and meaningful spaces — whether that’s for music, deep convos, spontaneous dance parties, or games. I love to cook in Janie’s, go to the farmer’s market, craft a bunch of random things, and yap, so I hope to catch y’all at my open door hours.

Henry Long 2025 Class-Elected Commencement Speech

On campus, I’m also a Head Consultant at the CWPD, so you’ll often find me studying/socializing in the writing center. On campus, I’m a Romero Success Coach and a member of the CMS Men’s Basketball Team. I’m a Government major from 20 minutes outside of Chicago, hoping to go to law school in a few years (please reach out if you need pre-law/government advice!).

Introducing the 2025-26 RAs!

I got to see people with last names like mine hold political office, lead businesses, and serve as community leaders. I’m Zane Yamamoto and I’m running to be your first-year class president. With that in mind, feel free to message me any time– and vote for me this weekend for FYCP! I want to be the mouthpiece for our class’ issues and wishes, so I plan on taking the initiative to talk with every single first-year. In high school, I worked for the community engagement program at a local museum and successfully led clubs like Speech and Debate, Model UN, and Mock Trial.

  • My goal as your president is to make sure we continue to promote that welcoming environment amongst everyone in the student body.
  • I love watching movies, hanging out with my friends, traveling, and trying out new foods.
  • I am so excited to meet so many new people during my time as an RA, and hopefully make some really fun Appleby traditions!

What You Need to Know About the Soon-to-be-Launched Data Science Major

In my free time, you’ll find me hanging out with friends, on a late night walk, or working on an arts and crafts project. One of my favorite things about CMC is the community, and I’m really looking forward to contributing to helping make Wohlf feel like home for everyone as an RA. I’m excited to be able to help spread that positive community at Green and throughout campus.

U.S. Foreign Policy Outlook After the 2024 Election

CMC students deem the new data science major as “very admirable and a necessary step for CMC to remain a leading national liberal arts college,” according to David Roman ‘22, a current public policy major with a data science sequence. “Teaching a data science course like Econ 160 involves a lot more in-class lab work, where professors present a lecture and students operate software in class,” said Batta in response to the differences between teaching a traditional accounting course and Accounting Data Analytics. While the data science major is intended to make students experts in that realm, CMC will continue to offer the data science sequence but plans to change its name to distinguish it from the major. However, the sequence offers students familiarity with data science.” In other words, CMC intends the sequence to be interdisciplinary, as students must also complete a major. The data science major will prepare students for a data-driven world with machine intelligence.”

I want to make sure that everyone feels at home at CMC. I fell in love with the environment and felt instantly at home. I knew I wanted to attend CMC from the second I set foot on campus. In a remote setting, it can be challenging to get to know your peers.

Feel free to ask me about these or any campus organizations, and we can explore them together. I’m excited to help cultivate a welcoming and engaging community within Fawcett and the CMC community at large. I have also retained my childhood love for books, so if you ever want to discuss your latest read or need a fun recommendation, let’s connect!

I am so happy to be at CMC and I want to guarantee that everyone feels the same way. We will continue to have more class zooms within CMC but also as a 5C community. Whether it is virtual events (synchronous and asynchronous) or hopefully physical in the spring, as your president I will make sure that this class stays as strong and tight-knit as possible. We as a class have already had engaging and reflective conversations, and I want to not only continue having those discussions within our class, but to promote those open and productive conversations to members of the student body and faculty. My goal as your president is to make sure we continue to promote that welcoming environment amongst everyone in the student body. I’m Lexi Punishill and I’m hoping to get your vote for first year class president.

I stay informed about what events are going on and what lovely organization opportunities there are. Ask me about the Black Student Association or on-campus clubs. I’m so excited to meet all of you and get ready for some fun community-building events! If I’m not in Janie’s kitchen, you’ll probably find me at the CARE center hosting some fun events or somewhere random at the 5C’s.
