Warning Signs That Need Urgent Brain Imaging
Progressive Headache Worsening Over Weeks
A new headache that worsens progressively over days to weeks — especially one that is worst in the morning, wakes from sleep, or is associated with nausea/vomiting — needs brain imaging.
New Seizure in an Adult
A first seizure after age 30 — especially a focal seizure (one limb shaking, one side of face twitching, or brief strange sensations) — requires urgent MRI brain to exclude a structural lesion including tumor.
Personality and Behaviour Change
Gradual personality change, disinhibition, poor planning, or unusual behaviour in a previously normal adult suggests a frontal lobe lesion — which may be a slowly growing tumour.
Progressive Weakness on One Side
Gradually developing weakness in one hand, arm, or leg — getting slowly worse over weeks — is a red flag for a structural lesion including brain tumor. This is distinct from the sudden onset of stroke.
Speech Difficulties and Confusion
Progressive difficulty finding words, following conversations, or understanding speech — developing gradually in a previously normal person — requires urgent brain imaging.

Urgent MRI Brain with Contrast
MRI with gadolinium contrast is the gold standard for brain tumor diagnosis — showing the size, location, and enhancement characteristics that guide neurosurgical planning. We arrange urgent MRI brain referrals for appropriate patients.
Full Neurological Assessment
Systematic examination of cranial nerves, motor and sensory function, reflexes, coordination, and cognitive screening — to map the neurological deficit and localise the lesion.
