Neck Pain Physiotherapy in Hyderabad
Neck stiffness. Pain radiating into the shoulder or arm. Headache from the neck. Cervical spondylosis is increasingly common from age 30 — and highly treatable.
Neck pain is the fourth most common cause of years lived with disability globally, and is dramatically increasing in Hyderabad's IT population due to prolonged screen time and sedentary work postures. Dr. Harisha provides comprehensive cervical spine physiotherapy — addressing the full range from acute wry neck to chronic cervical spondylosis with radiculopathy. Treatment is evidence-based, exercise-centred, and always accompanied by detailed postural and ergonomic correction.
Key Points
- Neck pain from prolonged screen use (tech neck) is now the most common type we see.
- The spine bears 27 kg of force when the head is tilted forward 45 degrees at a screen — 3 times the normal 9 kg.
- Posture correction and deep cervical flexor strengthening is the most effective treatment for tech neck.
- Cervical spondylosis (disc wear) is managed conservatively in 90% of cases — surgery is rarely needed.
- Neural stretches, cervical traction, and TENS can provide rapid pain relief during the acute phase.

Neck Problems We Treat
Cervical Spondylosis
Age-related wear of the cervical discs and joints. Neck stiffness, reduced range of movement, neck pain with prolonged positions, and sometimes arm tingling. Very common from age 40 onwards.
Cervical Radiculopathy
Disc prolapse or bone spur compressing a nerve root in the neck — causing pain, tingling, or numbness radiating into the shoulder, arm, and fingers. Physiotherapy is the first-line treatment.
Cervicogenic Headache
Headache originating from the upper cervical spine (C1-C3) — typically felt at the base of the skull, radiating to the forehead, eye, or temple. Responds excellently to manual therapy and deep cervical flexor training.
Postural Neck Pain (Tech Neck)
Neck and shoulder pain from prolonged forward head posture at screens. The most rapidly increasing neck problem in the 25–45 age group. Postural correction, strengthening, and ergonomic advice are the solutions.
Acute Wry Neck (Torticollis)
Sudden onset severe neck pain with the head locked in a twisted position. Painful and alarming — but usually resolves quickly with gentle mobilisation and soft tissue techniques.
Neck Pain Physiotherapy Programme
Postural and Ergonomic Assessment
We assess your sitting posture, screen height, keyboard position, and daily movement patterns — identifying the postural habits driving your neck pain, then providing specific corrections.
Manual Therapy and Mobilisation
Cervical mobilisation, upper thoracic manipulation, and soft tissue release to reduce pain and restore neck range of movement — enabling exercise to proceed without pain limiting participation.
Deep Cervical Flexor Training
Specific training of the deep neck muscles (longus colli, longus capitis) — the spinal stabilisers most commonly inhibited in chronic neck pain. Very effective for cervicogenic headache and postural pain.
Nerve Mobilisation for Radiculopathy
Neural tissue mobilisation techniques — reducing neural tension in the affected cervical nerve root, improving pain and neurological symptoms in cervical radiculopathy.
Home Exercise and Screen Ergonomics
Written home exercise programme, screen height and distance guidance, regular movement break prescription, pillow selection advice — because the 8 hours at your desk matters more than the 1 hour in physiotherapy.
Why Choose Sri Anand Hospital?
Treated by: Dr. Harisha · MPT (Physiotherapy) · Spinal & Musculoskeletal Specialist
"Tech neck is the epidemic of our generation. I see engineers and IT professionals in their 30s with the cervical spine of a 60-year-old. The good news: it is almost entirely reversible with posture training, ergonomic changes, and a 15-minute daily exercise programme."
